The wall will be built at the Mexican border "100 percent," and there are already hundreds of bidders for the project, President Donald Trump said in an interview airing Wednesday.

The comment came a day after Attorney General Jeff Sessions told immigration officials that there is a "new era" of enforcement with the president in charge.

"We have hundreds of bidders," Trump told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo in an interview for her "Mornings With Maria" program. "I've seen 10 of the top [plans] but I want to see more. We're looking at designs and we're to be be making a decision very shortly."

The numbers of immigrants coming through the Mexican border are already down 68 percent, said Trump, as "people aren't even trying to get through anymore because they know they can't."

Trump also discussed import taxes, saying "everyone goes crazy because they like free trade," when he says he's going to charge a border tax of 10 percent or 20 percent,

There are countries, he said, that impose a 100 percent tax on items such as motorcycles made in the United States, but "if they make a motorcycle and they sell it back into the United States, they have no tax. Now, do you think that's fair? Do you think that's smart?"

Trump said he loves the idea of a reciprocal tax, also called a matching or mirror tax.

"The reciprocal tax is very important, and you know the funny thing is that nobody gets angry when you say reciprocal," Trump said. "When you say you're going to charge a border tax, we would be a rich nation. When you say reciprocal nobody fights you. When you say I'm going to charge 10 percent or 20 percent border tax everyone goes crazy because they like free trade. They don't say the other countries are charging much more than that."

Trump said he's not necessarily calling for a reciprocal tax, but "there has to be a certain reciprocal nature to it, but when you say reciprocal tax, nobody can get angry, even the other countries. If they are charging you 50 percent tax, whatever they're charging, we are charging it. They may not like but they can't win that battle."

Tax reforms will also entice businesses to return cash to the United States, and "do a lot of good things with it," said Trump.

"Right now they can't bring it back," Trump said. "It's not only the high tax, it's also the bureaucracy is so horrible . . . even if they are willing to pay the tax, the bureaucracy, the paperwork, the work to get it in, it's not worth it."

Trump also spoke of his plans for infrastructure projects, saying the legislation may come as part of healthcare reform "in order to get votes."

"I need 60 percent for that, and if I put that in the Democrats are actually going to love the infrastructure plans . . . on healthcare I won't get one Democrat vote even though many of them it's an incredible plan. Take a look at Justice Gorsuch, you can't get better, top of the line in every aspect, and he got three votes from the Democrats. Should have gotten all of them, got three votes and those three people are to be respected for doing it."
