RNC's McEnany: Building Wall Remains 'Lightning Rod Issue' for GOP

November's midterms are a "battle of the bases" and building the border wall remains the top "lightning rod issue" for Republican voters, RNC spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany told Hill.TV on Friday.

And McEnany said she believes the wall will get built, so long as Republicans hold onto the House and increase their majority in the Senate in November.

"This is a battle of the bases. We need people to tout base issues," McEnany told Hill.TV, adding that one of the most emailed issues they get at the RNC is, "when are we gonna build the wall?"

"Because that really motivates our base. Building the wall, immigration, that's a lightning rod issue … we have to rally our base," McEnany said.

McEnany said she believes it will get built.

"I think we have to pick a few more Senate seats, and I think it's possible. Obviously, hold on to the House as well," McEnany said.
