Donald Trump surrogate and former Lieutenant Governor of New York Betsy McCaughey told CNN's Don Lemon on Wednesday night that people are not "buying this roll out of accusers" and added that the accusations against the real estate mogul is "man-shaming."
According to Mediaite, after Fox News host Megyn Kelly pressed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on the 11 women who made public accusations against Trump, McCaughey tore into Kelly by saying, "I have enormous respect for how she runs her show. But I do believe the polls show that Americans are not buying this roll out of accusers and this bigger theme of man-shaming, and they want to get to the real issues."
She continued, "The latest Fox poll shows … Trump is up 13 percent over Hillary Clinton nationwide with independent voters. That includes women, as well as men."
Lemon challenged McCaughey by asking if she thinks that exchange helps Trump with women.
McCaughey replied, "What I'm saying is that Americans are watching this drumbeat about these sexual accusations, and they're saying 'I don't buy this, I want to hear about the economy.'"
