Former President Barack Obama is expected to hit the campaign trail for Democratic candidates running for the House and Senate, CNBC is reporting.
Sources told the network they expect to see Obama start making an impact in September. He reportedly has not decided specific races he will get involved in, according to CNBC.
However, he is expected to receive guidance from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. It is also anticipated that Obama will campaign for certain gubernatorial candidates in advance of the midterms. A spokesman for Obama’s political operation declined to comment on the report.
Politico had reported in January that Obama was planning to do some campaigning for Democrats running in the midterms.
"He's going to be out there for candidates, he'll be out there helping us in meaningful ways, not just in fundraising," Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez told Politico.
