Steve Bannon ran afoul of President Donald Trump and GOP voters noticed, according to a new Politico/Morning Consult poll that shows the former adviser's favorability rating has plummeted to 19 percent among Republicans.
That's good for a 13-point drop in less than a month for Bannon, who lost everything over his decision to be a part of a controversial new book trashing the president and his family.
The results, according to Politico:
- 14 percent overall have a favorable view of Bannon.
- 51 percent overall have an unfavorable view.
- 35 percent overall have no opinion or have never heard of Bannon.
- 46 percent of Republicans have an unfavorable view.
- 35 percent of Republicans have no opinion or have never heard of Bannon.
It's a stunning fall from grace for the former Breitbart News executive who took over as campaign chairman of Trump's presidential run that resulted in a chief strategist role in the White House.
But that's all been erased after Bannon's quotes in the new book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," saying that Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with Russians was treasonous and that Ivanka Trump is "dumb as a brick," among other inflammatory statements.
The Morning Consult/Politico poll surveyed 1,988 registered voters online from Jan. 4-5 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
