Emerson Poll: Rep. Barr Leads Kentucky GOP Senate Race

By    |   Thursday, 02 April 2026 12:30 PM EDT

Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky., is leading the Republican primary for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate seat, according to new polling released Thursday.

An Emerson College Polling/Fox56 survey found that 28% of likely Republican voters support Barr, putting him ahead of Attorney General Daniel Cameron at 21% and businessman Nate Morris at 15%, according to The Hill

The poll also showed that 29% of GOP voters remain undecided ahead of the May 19 primary.

Barr’s support has increased since February, when the same polling group found he had backing from 24% of likely Republican voters.

The race will determine who succeeds retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, who is concluding a 42-year Senate career and is the longest-serving Senate leader in U.S. history.

Barr has focused his campaign on priorities aligned with President Donald Trump, including stricter border policies, tax cuts, and gun rights. Trump has not endorsed a candidate in the race, though he spoke positively about all three Republican contenders during a March appearance in Kentucky.

The survey found that 46% of Republican voters said a Trump endorsement would make them more likely to support a candidate.

Another 41% said it would not affect their vote, while 13% said it would make them less likely to back a candidate.

The Emerson College Polling/FOX56 survey sampled 1,050 likely Kentucky voters of all parties from March 29-31 and has a margin of error of about 2.9%.
