Former Hillary Clinton campaign aide Amanda Renteria has submitted the necessary paperwork to run for California governor, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Renteria has not formally announced her bid. She joins a field of high-profile Democrats including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.

According to the L.A. Times, Renteria, who has been serving as an aide to California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, announced Wednesday she would be resigning from her post so she could run in the race to replace outgoing Gov. Jerry Brown, D-Calif.

"I wish her a great deal of luck," Becerra told the news outlet. "I hired her because I knew she was pretty capable. I hold her in high regard."
