The government shutdown could drag on for several more days because both Democrats and Republicans appear to be in no rush to end it for now, Byron York, chief political correspondent at The Washington Examiner, says.
"What's happening here, it appears that people are kind of just dug in for the weekend," York told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"One of the things that's interesting is how both sides seem to have made their peace with the shutdown and that the shutdown was not the radioactive, nuclear, hot stove … not quite the powerful thing everyone thought it would be, at least for the first few days."

While some lawmakers have hinted that a possible deal in which the budget is approved and the debt ceiling raised is in the works, York says he knows of no negotiations going on.
"Nothing is happening in terms of Democrats and Republicans talking," he said.
"There does not seem to be this frantic 24/7 effort to end this shutdown. Both sides seem somewhat satisfied with it."
