Economist and columnist Walter Williams says that companies that bow to pressure groups are doing themselves more harm than good.
"The companies or presidents of universities that succumb to this kind of pressure, they're hoping that they'll look better in the eyes of these leftists, these radicals," Williams told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "But they're going to hate them just as much and they're going to try to undo them," he said. "So it's really a kind of stupid cowardice demonstrated by these people, where they will not stand up to this kind of nonsense."

Williams was discussing the ousting of Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich, who resigned under pressure 11 days after being tapped to lead Mozilla, after it was revealed he had once donated $1,000 in support of California's anti-gay marriage ballot initiative, Proposition 8.
Williams said he is also alarmed at the pressure being applied to cloud storage service Dropbox, which named former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to its board of directors. Activists say Rice’s support for a warrantless wiretapping program during the George W. Bush presidency makes her unsuitable.
Williams believes everyday Americans don't go in for the radical demands being placed on companies.
"People with common sense, people who are decent, people who are free market or for liberty, they're busy taking care of their lives," he said.
