Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is the "Sarah Palin of the U.S. Senate," MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Monday.
"We'll survive Ted Cruz. But, he's Sarah Palin is what he is," Scarborough said Monday on "Morning Joe." "It's short-sighted for him. The Republican Party will recover. We have had to deal with a lot of short-sighted, stupid political tactics in the past."
Scarborough took aim at Cruz after an interview he gave Sunday on CNN about the role politics is playing in the
government shutdown.

"Far too many people are worried about politics. Listen, if we worry about what's impacting the American people, the politics will take care of itself," Cruz told CNN's Candy Crowley.
Scarborough, a Florida congressman from 1995-2001, took issue with the
strategy led by Cruz and conservative Republicans, insisting on
not funding Obamacare in the Continuing Resolution passed by the U.S. House. The move led to the government shutdown last week after the bill was rejected by the Senate.
"He thinks the American people and the Republicans are a lot dumber than we are," Scarborough said of Cruz, who is mentioned As a 2016 presidential candidate. "It's like he thinks he's talking to a bunch of third graders."
