Senators Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Rand Paul of Kentucky are two of the top Republicans likely to flourish in the aftermath of the government shutdown and debt ceiling crisis, Newsmax TV's John Bachman says.
"If Paul Ryan can really take the reins as the budget chairman in the House and propose something and perhaps get it passed, I mean there is a desire," Bachman told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The president would like to do something before his term ends and that could really set the economy on the right path and if Paul Ryan could do that, he's got a great shot.
"Rand Paul … has been able to kind of hold the line like Ted Cruz has but he's done it in a little bit more of a smarter way … [Cruz is] principled, he's standing up for what he believes, but everybody has to negotiate. Rand Paul on the other hand, he took a step back, [is] a little bit more measured in his approach."
Bachman says the Republicans should have come out with one cohesive plan to counter the Affordable Care Act.
"There are lots of plans out there … We know what they are, we read about them, but why doesn't the party coalesce … on one of these plans? That really needs to happen," he said.
"If Ted Cruz had had that to back him up, if there had been an alternative perhaps, maybe the American public would have come to support Republicans in this fight."
