When An Illinois woman received a package of Christmas gifts from her brother-in-law a week late, she didn't imagine it would include a gift from the White House.
The gift tag read "For Mama Kaye and Papa Wellington, From Barack, Michelle + the girls," and enclosed was a personal photo book of the president's daughters, Sasha and Malia.
Alane Church of Chicago told NBC's "Today" show Thursday that her family opened the package at breakfast on New Year's Day. Inside were gifts in "major disarray."
"Gifts were broken open, parts of the old box were in this toilet paper box that the post office repackaged. And, in the bottom of the box, was this extra gift," Church said.
"We were reading the tag, trying to figure out where this came from. And, it was opened. So, we then discovered this was a very personal gift to Mama Kaye," Church said.
Mama Kaye is Eleanor "Mama Kaye" Wilson, godmother to the president's daughters,
according to NBC. Church posted the mistake on
her Facebook page, writing, "We got the Presidents Gift!!!!!!!! What to do.…….? Wow!!!!"
Church displayed the photo book and gift tag, but would not reveal the pictures inside, just saying it included "private moments of their year of 2013 together." She said she had located Mama Kaye, and has sent the photo book to her.
