Tea Party Patriots' Meckler: Democrats 'at War' With Americans

By    |   Thursday, 03 October 2013 04:55 PM EDT

Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self Government and co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, says Republicans are truly representing the United States by refusing to buckle on a budget deal with Obamacare concessions.

"They are actually representing the majority of the American people. The majority of the American people have never supported Obamacare . . . Today support is at an all-time low," Meckler told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

"You've got a party [which is] actually standing up for the will of the American people . . . As I see it, no Democrats are actually standing for the American people."

Democrats, in essence, are "at war" with Americans, Meckler believes.

"They know the American people don't support them, they know the American people don't support Obamacare . . . they just don't care. They are at war. They are at odds with the American people," he said.

"They intend to punish the American people and the American people are seeing right through it."

Meckler is now involved in a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service for its alleged targeting of conservative groups like the tea party.

"This is the war of the government against people who disagree with it. And so that litigation is now in federal court in Ohio," Meckler said.

"We've told [our lawyer] to treat this like a criminal prosecution."
