Reports: Suspended Lara Logan to Return to '60 Minutes' Soon

By    |   Monday, 16 December 2013 10:51 PM EST

Two journalists issued leaves of absence from CBS' "60 Minutes" in response to their inaccurate reporting on the Benghazi attacks could return to the show as early as January, Politico reports.

The pair, Lara Logan and Max McClellan, have been planning new stories and scheduling production crews, sources from the network said, adding that a firm date has not been set.

"Lara Logan's return has not been scheduled," program spokesman Kevin Tedesco said. "Beyond that, we do not comment on speculation."

Their absence from the program began Oct. 27 after a story that said Dylan Davies, a security contractor, was at the U.S. embassy when the attacks occurred on Sept. 11, 2012. After further investigation, it was revealed that Davis was not at the compound, and had told his employer and the FBI that.

The story was retracted, and Logan personally apologized.

CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager defended Logan and took the blame himself. Fager, executive producer of the show, said he should have caught the error.
