Hannity: Jon Stewart is Administration's Chief Apologist

By    |   Thursday, 24 April 2014 01:11 PM EDT

Sean Hannity slammed Jon Stewart for spinning the story about anti-government activist Cliven Bundy by misrepresenting Hannity's support for the Nevada rancher who was at a stand-off with the federal government.

Stewart had said on "The Daily Show with John Stewart" on Comedy Central Monday night that no one was on Bundy's side except Hannity.

Story continues below video.

"So the law isn't on Bundy's side. The court isn't on Bundy's side. Even the Nevada state constitution, which Bundy claims to abide, isn't on Bundy's side. Who the hell is on this guy's side?" he asked.

"Hannity! I still don't get it!" Stewart added, after playing a clip of the Fox News host offering his support to the Nevada rancher.

"He's kind of obsessed with this program," Hannity said Tuesday night on his Fox News program. "I know things are tough for Stewart. His army of 50 writers . . . they just can't give their viewers the facts. They have to spin the story."

"They want to joke, they want to laugh any way they can because Stewart and his friends at Comedy Central — they kind of are the chief apologists for the Obama Administration."

Hannity then described what he said is "the real story behind the Bundy family stand-off with the federal government," something he said that Stewart was "incapable of doing."

The Fox News host emphasized that his criticism of the government's role in the scandal was due to a "lack of proportionality" and "lack of objectivity."

"What are we talking about here, cows eating free government grass!" Hannity said. "Can I make my position any more clear to Mr. Stewart. I stand for proportionality. What I don't stand for are 200 armed federal agents and snipers pointing guns at the Bundy family and their supporters."

"I have to be honest," he added. "I am shocked that Jon Stewart, who claims that he's such a law and order type of guy, would be OK with any of this."
