Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney says President Barack Obama’s call for a limited military strike against Syria is a “fairy tale” plan that will drag the U.S. into a civil war.
“There are so many reasons why we should be very, very careful about going down this road and we're being anything but careful,” Gaffney told former Congressman Allen West, guest host of “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.
“We're kidding ourselves that … these shots across the bow and so on are going to have any appreciable effect other than get us into this civil war, which I don't see any upside.”
Gaffney, who worked in the Defense Department under Ronald Reagan and is founder and president of the Center for Security Policy, added:
“The American people are sick to the teeth of it and that's part of why they don't want any part of getting into this war.”
