It's essential for Americans to get a flu vaccination and ignore the myths about the supposed dangers involved, says Dr. David Samadi, Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
"It's absolutely a good idea and the whole myth behind the flu shot — 'I was fine until I got the flu shot and then I got sick' — that's really the biggest myth, '' Samadi told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The dose of the kind of virus that we're getting is so small and it's only supposed to boost your immune system — so when you actually get the influenza you can fight it out."
The problem with some of these vaccinations is deciding which kinds of viruses they should fight, Samadi explained.
"We're guessing it's going to be these three or four types of flu viruses and last year we were right about 60 percent of the time, which is not bad but it's not really great.
"This year … hopefully we'll have a better outcome."
