David Swerdlick: Obama-Castro Handshake Just 'Courteous Gesture'

President Obama's handshake with Cuban President Raul Castro at the funeral of Nelson Mandela was nothing more than a courteous gesture, says David Swerdlick, associate editor and columnist for TheRoot.com.

"Come on, it's a handshake at a funeral between two heads of state. It's the polite sort of ceremonial thing to do," Swerdlick told "The Steve Malzberg Show" Wednesday on Newsmax TV.

"I don't know what they expect him to do otherwise. The headlines would have been worse if the headlines had been Obama snubs Castro . . . It would have been bad form on the part of Obama."
