On the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, former Rep. Pete Hoekstra says the U.S. has avoided countless acts of terrorism since 9/11 but may be increasingly vulnerable.
"I think it's hard to put a number on it, but by having a very, very aggressive stance overseas, clearly we have diminished the capabilities of radical jihadist groups to launch attacks into the United States. I think that has changed in the last couple of years," Hoekstra told John Bachman and J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV.

Hoekstra said that Democrats, including President Barack Obama, have been more concerned with being politically correct than with pursuing terrorists.
"It emboldens radical jihadists and it creates more opportunities for organizations to have safe havens to really go after the crown jewels. The crown jewel, a successful attack on the United States," Hoekstra said.
The Obama administration's inability to stand up to global threats can also be seen in the ongoing standoff with Russia over Ukraine, said Hoekstra.
"This is going all Putin's way. Europe and the U.S., they can't get together on sanctions, they can't get together on a strategy, and Putin is just slowly achieving the [instability] that he wants," he said.
