Hillary Clinton's loss last month to Donald Trump has created a lot of disappointment with her and former President Bill Clinton, but they have said that "the people have spoken and the election is over," longtime associate Webb Hubbell told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"They're human beings — and they spent the last four years running for president," Hubbell, 68, Hillary Clinton's former law partner who also served as an assistant attorney general under the president, told Steve Malzberg on "America Talks Live."

"They've got to be disappointed and it's got to hurt. It's got to hurt a lot."

Hubbell's new book is "A Game of Inches: A Jack Patterson Thriller."

He likened Clinton's defeat to the Super Bowl.

"You think of all the things that could have happened that didn't happen: You get a bad call. You drop a pass — and you start talking about those.

"But at some point you accept the results," he told Malzberg. "As I understand it, Hillary and Bill have said the people have spoken and the election is over.

"I think it just takes some time to accept such a huge personal loss."
