The Democrats' continuing taunt that the GOP is waging a "war on women" is backfiring, according to Jonathan Tobin, a columnist and senior online editor with Commentary Magazine.
"The 'war on women' has always been a lie. Republicans aren't waging a 'war on women,"' Tobin said Tuesday on the "Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

"Trying to run just on this … seemed to work in other places, but in Colorado, it's not."
Tobin's comments come just days after the liberal Denver Post made a surprise endorsement of Rep. Cory Gardner, a Colorado Republican, who's in a neck-in-neck race with incumbent Democrat Mark Udall.
"[The 'war on women'] has been the bulletproof Democratic strategy for the last two election cycles. We all remember Todd Akin, the Missouri Republican Senate candidate, who sank himself and many other Republicans with his idiotic comments about rape and pregnancy," Tobin said.
"The Democrats through that year and through this year have been saying that the only thing they have to do is to keep saying that the Republicans are waging a 'war on women' and that we'll guarantee them the election.
"What Mark Udall in Colorado has done is to [run] a single issue campaign ... The Denver Post, this very liberal, normally Democrat newspaper … said this isn't how they want to conduct their elections."
He called talk of Gardner wanting to ban birth control "a stupid smear."
