Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV that President Donald Trump needs to remain strong on building the wall on the southern border.
“If you go into these sort of fights, you better be ready to fight it until the end – especially if you’re president of the United States,” he said during an appearance on Friday’s “America Talks Live.”
“If he weakens at all, he’s going to have an awful next two years because the Democrats are going to see that weakness and exploit it.”

And the Texas Republican said it is unlikely the Senate will vote on Friday to give Trump the money he is seeking for the wall.
“If the Senate is not going to remove the 60-vote rule, which (Senate Majority Leader Mitch) McConnell has said he is not going to do, it looks like the Senate will not be able to pass it,” he said.
“I think it was really important for the president to demand the House and the Senate vote on this so we can see – and the American people can see -- exactly who are shutting the government down, who is for open borders and against border security and the wall.
“So, what’s going on behind the scenes is I think the leadership in the House and the Senate – both Democrats and Republicans – are pulling their hair out because they have a president who won’t budge.”
