President-elect Donald Trump said Mitt Romney is still a candidate for secretary of state Wednesday — but "I hope that's not a realistic assessment of his chances," former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told Newsmax TV.
"There's no reason," Tancredo, 70, who served in the House for a decade beginning in 1999, told host Steve Malzberg on "America Talks Live." "I can think of absolutely no reason.
"There's nothing that I can see that Romney does for this administration, or for Donald Trump, or for the advancement of American principles around the world."

"I hope he's wrong," Tancredo told Malzberg. "That's all I can say.
"There are much better candidates, many of them. Don't do it."
