The digital prostate exams performed on "Today" hosts Matt Lauer and Al Roker on live TV this week were "a great opportunity" to make men aware of prostate cancer, says Dr. David Samadi, who administered the tests.
"It's a great message . . . that in 34 seconds, we can find out exactly what's going on with someone's prostate and do the right thing," Samadi told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Men are always scared of going to doctors, they don't like to be screened and get checked, and I thought it was a great segment."
Samadi, the chairman of urology and chief of robotic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, said the response has been very positive.
"People need to know that even young men can die from prostate cancer … and I hope it will bring awareness to people," he said.
