Tech Insider: Deal for Beats Signals Paradigm Shift at Apple

Tuesday, 27 May 2014 05:44 PM EDT

Apple's $3.2 billion deal for Beats Electronics — if it ever goes through — will not only make a billionaire of West Coast rapper Dr. Dre, a Beats co-founder, it could signal a major shift at Apple from making gadgets to just acquiring them, a tech industry analyst says.

Sam Volkering of Sam Volkering's Tech Insider on Tuesday spoke with "America's Forum" hosts John Bachman and Francesca Page on Newsmax TV about the Mac and iPhone maker's uncertain future in the post-Steve Jobs era and the impact of a joint proposal with Google to pay  $324.5 million to settle charges of wage-fixing.

"They seem to have lost their way a little bit," Volkering said.
