Bill O'Reilly strongly disagreed with Rudy Giuliani's profane rant about President Donald Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen, telling Newsmax TV it was a pointless tongue-lashing.
Giuliani, who now serves as Trump's lawyer, compared Cohen to infamous traitors like treasonous Revolutionary War general Benedict Arnold; Brutus, who shoved the last knife into Caesar; and Shakespeare's Iago, who plotted to destroy Othello.
"The guy is unethical; he's a scumbag; he's a horrible person," Giuliani proclaimed on CNN's "New Day."
Not a good move, O'Reilly, a veteran broadcaster and bestselling author, told "The Wayne Allyn Root Show."

"I would not handle it that way," O’Reilly said. "I understand why Giuliani is doing what he's doing. He wants to poison the well. That means he's throwing all of the allegations against President Trump from Michael Cohen and everybody else into this big vat of 'they're unethical, they're dishonest.'
"He's just poisoning everything so Trump supporters don't take it seriously. That's his job. But on the other hand, I've always said President Trump should be more methodical in his own defense and his attorney should be more deliberate.
"Using words like 's-bag.' What does that do? It doesn't do anything other than lower the discourse . . . We've got the message . . . The Trump administration feels Michael Cohen and [special counsel] Robert Mueller and the FBI, they're all charlatans and dishonest. We've got it. You don't need to overplay it."
O'Reilly is the author of "Killing England: The Brutal Struggle for American Independence," written with Martin Dugard and published by Henry Holt.
