Sen. Jeff Sessions, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, is in favor of a hands-on community policing approach — and that's "right on the mark," former FBI assistant director Ron Hosko told Newsmax TV.
During an interview on "America Talks Live," Hosko told host J.D. Hayworth Tuesday that Sessions would help restore the rule of law via better communication.

"From what I heard, the senator is right on the mark," Hosko said. "There has to be robust, effective communications between law enforcement and the people they are serving. That communication today is capable of dramatic improvement."
Hosko also discussed the Fort Lauderdale airport shooting and the incident in Orlando that left one officer dead of gunshot wounds and another dead following a motorcycle crash while he was searching for the suspect.
"Is there a toxic combination that got to him?" Hosko asked of the Fort Lauderdale shooter's potential to being inspired by terrorism to commit his crime. "Or was it well-planned and this is just the act of a hard, cold-blooded criminal? It's going to take a couple of days to figure it out."
Regarding Orlando, Hosko said, "What they need is community help and I think what the police chief down there was hinting at down there yesterday was his belief that there are some in the community that may have helped this person evade arrest before and maybe helping him now.
"This is very concerning."
