Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott told Newsmax TV on Monday that he would recommend to President Donald Trump that he repeat many of his 2016 campaign themes to beat Democratic nominee Joe Biden and win a second term.
“I talked to him in 2016 and I said, ‘Every time you open your mouth talk about jobs,” Scott said on “Greg Kelly Reports.” “So I would talk about the things that are important to people around this country: it’s jobs; it’s education for our kids; it’s law enforcement; it’s holding the leaders of communist China, communist Cuba, Venezuela accountable, which he is doing.
“Those are the issues. Help support our military, which he does. So, just talk about the issues…If you go down to what’s good for your family, you’re going to vote for Donald Trump.”
Scott, 67, the former governor of Florida and U.S. Navy veteran, agreed with eponymous host Greg Kelly that Trump needs to repeat his priorities from his first term, many of which met overwhelming resistance from a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives his last two years.
“He’s going to back to building jobs again,” Scott said. “The coronavirus has really hurt us, but look at the best economy in our lifetime right before the coronavirus. He’s going to focus on that. He’s going to focus on our military. We got record military funding.
“But think about. We’ve got to hold communist China accountable. Who’s done it? Barack Obama didn’t do it. And Joe Biden says they’re not even our competition. So, if you believe we should pacify people like the Castro brothers (Fidel and Raul), the Castro regime, or Xi (Jinping) in China, or the ayatollah (Ali Khamanei, supreme leader of Iran), then you’re going to pick Biden. If you believe in accountability, you’re going to pick Trump.”
