The fallout from the U.S. Supreme Court's legalization of same-sex marriage in all 50 states is spreading like wildfire and poses a chilling threat to religious freedom, Mike Farris, coauthor of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), tells
Newsmax TV.
"It's going to get bad, it's going to get bad quickly," Farris, who is also a senior fellow at Citizens for Self Governance, said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"Religious freedom is going to be under a direct wholesale assault by people committed to finding out people who are on the opposite side of the issue and harrying them out of public life."
He said some religious institutions are feeling the heat.
"There are churches that are already starting to receive calls from activists trying to solicit their policies on same-sex marriage for the purposes of setting them up for retribution," Farris said.
"The Religious Freedom Restoration Act should help … So we have to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight hard in the meantime."
He said he doubts the Republican-controlled Congress can intervene.
"Not as long as President [Barack] Obama is in the White House. There are some things that Congress can do, but part of this is going to be state law, state issues," Farris said.
"All we really need is a constitutional and structural change. The Supreme Court has effectively amended the Constitution of the United States in a de facto, illegal manner."
