Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., should not have dismissed the deal recently reached between Israel and Bahrain as a “distraction” from the coronavirus.
King, when asked about Pelosi, said on “John Bachman Now” that her comments are “indefensible,” noting that the peace agreement “is such a ray of hope” for the region, and that the importance of the deal “goes beyond the agreement itself. What it does is, it sends a signal to the Arab world that Israel is not their enemy, Iran is.”
He added that the agreement is “of groundbreaking importance, and for anyone, Democrat or Republican, to in any way try to denigrate this deal is really shameful, it’s really putting partisan, cheap, partisan politics ahead of the national good.”
King said that President Donald Trump “should get tremendous credit” for the deal, adding, “we’ve really turned a dangerous corner of this country what agreements such as this, which is so positive, is being criticized by the Speaker of the House.”
