Similar to the O.J. Simpson murder trial in the 1990s, the case of South African Olympian Oscar Pistorius has captured viewers around the world, Newsmax Left Coast editor James Hirsen said Friday on
Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."
"There are similarities in the sense that it gripped the media; certainly in South Africa. Oscar Pistorius was very much like an O.J. figure," Hirsen said.
A judge on Thursday acquitted the disabled track star of murder, instead convicting him on a lesser charge culpable negligence for the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
