Fox News Contributor: Make Obamacare Work

By    |   Tuesday, 12 November 2013 05:42 PM EST

Liberal columnist Ellis Henican says Republicans fighting tooth and nail against the Affordable Care Act should reverse course and work hard to make it a success.

"The debate has kind of come down to two camps," Henican, who writes for Newsday and is a Fox News contributor, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"There are the people who want to find a way to make this program work … fix whatever the small problems are … And then there's a group of people who want to kill it and destroy it and make sure that it doesn't work.

Story continues below video.

"I am firmly, firmly in the camp of those who believe it's important that it works … We're decent people in this country and most Americans want people to have healthcare. So let's pull together and try to do it."

Henican believes GOP lawmakers have refused to engage "in any kind of productive and constructive ability" to make the program work.

"They just said no … The day after [President Barack Obama] was elected, the top Republican in the U.S. Senate said that our number one job is to make sure this guy doesn't get re-elected and to oppose everything, everything."
