RNC's Izzy Santa: Obama 'Has No Plan' on Immigration

By    |   Wednesday, 02 July 2014 12:04 PM EDT

President Barack Obama is all talk, no action on immigration, Republican National Committee Hispanic Media Communications Director Izzy Santa told Newsmax TV's "America's Forum" on Wednesday.

"This president is full of speeches, he likes to give speeches to make sure people know he's actually taking care of a situation, but he's not," she told host J.D.Hayworth. "The fact is, no one will listen to a president or to an administration if they don't actually enforce the laws that are on the books."

"There needs to be an actual deterrent," Santa said. "We are not a country that has open borders."

Santa blamed Obama and his decision to implement the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals for giving a "bad signal to the world," particularly Central America, that the United States has an open-door immigration policy.

"Now our borders are not secure," she said, noting that "people need to remember that there is an immigration system that currently exists, it's not that the United States does not have immigration laws. It does, and the president needs to follow those laws."

Immigration trails education, jobs and the economy, and healthcare as issues most important to Hispanics, said Santa.

"The Democrats for a very long time have been using this issue as a political football," she said. "The fact is, the president has no plan, continues to have no plan, and is just full of big promises just to do what I call 'hispandering' to the Hispanic community."
