Most Muslims have been denouncing terrorism for years — but they must denounce those Muslims who do support it, lawyer and comedian Dean Obeidallah says.
"We collectively as Muslims have to recognize the people doing these acts are Muslim. We can't say they're not Muslim, they are," Obeidallah told Steve Malzberg and Francesca Page on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show.
"They might have a perverse sense of what that means or what they should be doing, but they are Muslim. So we can play a role in denouncing their actions.
"What they're doing is not just wrong, it's literally un-Islamic. It's literally … blasphemous to see what they're doing.''

Obeidallah, an American of Palestinian-Italian descent who writes for The Daily Beast, called Muslim terrorists "horrible, despicable murderers,'' but added that the media isn't always attentive to law-abiding Muslims.
"How many stories are people going to do about the average Muslim living their life or denouncing terrorism?" he said.
