GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump should keep his mouth shut if he hopes to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in November, Michael Reagan tells Newsmax TV.
Reagan tweeted his advice to Trump before his appearance on "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"If he doesn't have discipline, he will never see the inside of the White House unless he's invited to a state dinner," Reagan said, "and that won't' be by Hillary."

Trump, a billionaire real estate developer, is treating the race for the White House like a business deal, and that won't work, said Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan.
"I don't think he's understood that to this point, and I think he believes that 'if I'm in the news every night and control the news, I'm going to win this,'" Reagan said. "He makes news by disparaging Republicans and … disparaging Gold Star parents. That's not where he needs to be. He needs to be concentrating like a laser beam on Hillary Clinton and what she has done as secretary of state and beyond."
Trump is spending too much time complaining the elections are rigged against him because of debates scheduled against NFL games, Reagan said. But Republicans win "rigged elections" when they have a winning message, he said.
"Right now Donald Trump does not have a winning message. He has faux pas all over the place, and he's having self-inflicted wounds here he doesn't need," Reagan said. "If he got shut up and put in a sound-proof room and not open until Nov. 9, he'd win this thing going away."
