President Donald Trump should lay off attacking the media and talk more about the concerns of Americans, Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.
"He's playing to his supporters, and, remember, he's president of all the people not just his supporters," the son of President Ronald Reagan told Thursday's "The Steve Malzberg Show."
Reagan's remarks came after watching Trump's 75-minute press conference, in which he lambasted the press for what he said was negative coverage of his presidency and accused a number of media outlets of reporting fake news.

Reagan is a veteran political commentator and author of "Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan."
"I don't think it does any good for him to rip CNN and rip MSNBC. They're already down in the ratings and what have you. People already choose their television of choice," Reagan said. "And so I think he just wastes time playing that card to get his supporters jumping up and down saying 'yay, yippee ki-yay, I'm so happy that he ripped a show I never watched in the first place.'"
During his meeting with reporters, Trump called much of the media "dishonest," "out of control" and not trusted by Americans.
Reagan urged Trump to broaden his approach of communicating as the nation's 45th president.
"He needs to find a way to enlarge the scope, if you will, of people who are understanding what in fact he's trying to do," Reagan said.
