The State Department needs to reveal more information about why it has issued a rare global travel alert because of  "increased terrorist threats," Rep. Marsha Blackburn tells Newsmax TV.

"My reaction to the travel warning is they know more than what they are telling us," Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, said Tuesday to "Newsmax Prime" with J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan.

"What I want them to do is to come out and say, this is exactly what we know and this is exactly the Intel that we have."

The State Department advisory mentions no specific threat, but says Americans should be extra vigilant after recent deadly terror attacks in France, Mali, Nigeria, Denmark and Turkey.

"Everybody should be mindful, but we've all been mindful since Sept. 11th. So, now, is this due to the Paris attacks? Is this due to other Intel that they are getting? What is the driver behind this?" Blackburn said.

"That's what I want to know. I hope and pray that this is no more than a vigilant watch."
