Examiner Editor: Obama May Be 'Playing Possum' on ISIS

By    |   Tuesday, 26 August 2014 03:03 PM EDT

President Barack Obama may have more up his sleeve than he's saying when it comes to battling the bloodthirsty Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, according to Mark Tapscott, executive editor of the Washington Examiner.

"It is possible that the president is playing possum here to some extent,'' Tapscott said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "[He may be] continuing to say the same things he's been saying in the days before today as cover."

Tapscott said that possibility is bolstered by the fact that the U.S. military has started high-altitude reconnaissance and drone reconnaissance over Syria.

"That's typically what you do before you bomb. You got to get the lay of the land," he said.
"You get to know where the bad guys are, you get to know if a cruise missile is the best way to go after this target or do you need an F-18."

Members of ISIS — an offshoot of al-Qaida — have been butchering Christians throughout Iraq as they attempt to create an Islamic religious state known as a caliphate.
