Democratic lawmakers will not be able to prevent Neil Gorsuch from being confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court — and even if they could, they would likely regret it, Mark McKinnon, a former media adviser to George W. Bush told Newsmax TV.
"The irony of it is that if they were successful, and they're not going to be, they would very likely get somebody much worse than Gorsuch," McKinnon, co-creator and co-host of Showtime's "The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth" told Tuesday's "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"I've spent some time in Colorado, which is where I'm from, a week or so ago, talking to people about him and people love him across the aisle.
"It doesn't matter if they're Democrats or Republicans, he's about as qualified and temperamentally fit to be a Supreme Court justice as any nominee that I've ever seen."

Still, Democrats threatening to filibuster the nomination Friday, partly to avenge the GOP's refusal last year to consider Merrick Garland, President Barack Obama's Supreme Court pick. That filibuster would likely trigger Republicans to opt for a "nuclear option" to end it.
"The Democrats are in payback mode from Merrick Garland and this is just a really good example of a strategy that's designed to – all it's going to do is – communicate how partisan they are and they're just trying to get revenge from the Merrick Garland situation," McKinnon said.
"If successful, they would only be hurting themselves if they would likely get somebody that they would find much less palpable than Gorsuch, but they're going to get Gorsuch."
