Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., told Newsmax TV on Monday that is it “totally inappropriate” that a Navy captain sent a letter warning about a coronavirus outbreak on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
The congressman told Newsmax TV’s “Newsmax Now” on Monday that although it’s “very unfortunate” that Navy Captain Brett Crozier, who has been dismissed from his duties, felt the need to send a letter warning of a coronavirus outbreak on board his ship, it was “totally inappropriate” for him to do so.
“I think it's very unfortunate that a Navy commander feels like he has to write a letter like that,” Green said, adding that it was “totally inappropriate though. You know the readiness of a military formation… is critical information that doesn’t necessarily need to get to the Chinese or Russians.”
The congressman added that Crozier “should have known better,” and said that “the length of his letter shows he’s making a political statement, so I’m very pleased that he was relieved.”
