Newsmax announced Thursday that it has named Marc Lotter as co-host of "Wake Up America," joining Sharla McBride.
"Wake Up America" airs weekdays beginning at 6:30 a.m. ET on Newsmax. Lotter's first broadcast will be Dec. 16.
Lotter most recently was chief communications officer for the America First Policy Institute. He also served as director of strategic communications for the Trump-Pence 2020 campaign and as a special assistant to the president and press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence during the first Trump administration.
Lotter began his media career as a producer at several television stations in Indiana. Later he served as press secretary to the vice president during the 2016 presidential campaign and transition.
Lotter replaces former "Wake Up America" co-host Rob Finnerty, who was named to lead Newsmax's prime-time coverage as the host of Finnerty (weekdays at 8 p.m. ET) in October.
"It is an honor to be joining Sharla McBride and the team at 'Wake Up America,'" Lotter said. "I am extremely grateful to Chris Ruddy and the team for putting their faith in me. I am truly excited by this opportunity to inform our viewers and get them ready to take on the day."
"Marc has had a remarkable career in media and communications," Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said. "Throughout this time, he has shown an ability to connect strongly with viewers, and we're glad to have him as part of our team."
