Victoria Toensing, former chief counsel for the Senate Intelligence Committee, suggested to Newsmax on Monday that Luigi Mangione's lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, may have been providing some insight into her legal strategy when she said, "the evidence is going to be so overwhelming" that an insanity defense is on the table.
"There's so much evidence that the only thing left is the insanity defense," Toensing told "American Agenda."
"And I'm sure that's what" Mangione's lawyer is "brushing up on now. And they're going to hope with all this anti-CEO propaganda out there that they're going to get the jury like the [John W.] Hinckley jury in Washington, D.C., after [former President] Ronald Reagan was shot, and hope for a split verdict or something along the lines of insanity out of sympathy."
