Rep. Louie Gohmert says revelations about Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation contained in a controversial new book show why she erased so many emails from her time as secretary of state.
"It makes it a lot clearer now why she felt she had to get rid of those emails," Gohmert said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

If the email case ever goes to trial, a judge would have leeway in what the jury could weigh, according to Gohmert, a Texas Republican and vice chairman of the House Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Committee.
"If somebody got rid of evidence that was in their possession, then [a judge would be] allowed to instruct the jury: You may presume it would have been against the position of the one that got rid of it," he said.
"I mean, we don't allow many presumptions in court in front of juries, but they're getting rid of evidence."
The comments by Gohmert come in the wake of news stories about an explosive new book called "Clinton Cash," by Peter Schweitzer.
The book, out May 5, alleges the State Department under Clinton approved of the sale of one of America's largest uranium mines at the same time a charity supported by the Clinton Foundation received a donation from the seller's charitable foundation,
The Wall Street Journal reports.
The book also reportedly outlines other potential conflicts of interest between Clinton's work at the State Department and her charitable work.
