Russia must refocus its military might from targeting anti-Assad rebels in Syria to taking out the Islamic State (ISIS), Rep. Lee Zeldin, a member of House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Terrorism, tells
Newsmax TV.
Zeldin’s comment comes following the downing of a Russian passenger jet, in what is believed to be an act of terror. ISIS has claimed credit for the disaster, which occurred Saturday over the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt with the charter jet appearing to blow up. All 224 aboard were killed.
"Russia's targeting of anti-Assad rebels really should be recalibrated. Russia should be targeting ISIS, not the rebels," Zeldin, a New York Republican, said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."
