The explosive announcement of a reopened FBI probe into newly discovered emails from Hillary Clinton's private server could "continue a downward spiral" for the Democratic presidential nominee in the crucial final days before the election, pollster John Zogby said Friday.
In an interview with "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV, the senior partner at John Zogby Strategies said it's unclear if this an "October surprise" that will sink Clinton's White House bid.
"We don't know yet if it is the October surprise, but put it in the category of certainly not helpful to the Clinton campaign at a point where the polls are narrowing," he said.
"This is the sort of thing that could continue a downward spiral for her. Timing is very, very important and I'm going to suggest that this could be very impactful and not in a good way."

Zogby said even if Clinton had been "soaring in the polls," the impact of a renewed investigation "would be enough to stop her" in her tracks.
"But momentum wise, she's declining in the polls and Donald Trump for the first time in a major poll has hit 44 percent," he noted. "Four days ago, that same poll had him at 38 percent."
"This is the sort of thing that raises questions among undecideds and among people who were soft supporters of Hillary Clinton," he added. "This is the sort of thing that could make a major dent.
