Democrats won't be able to play the sexism card if Republicans pit former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina against Democrat Hillary Clinton, says John Sununu, former governor of New Hampshire and chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush.
"Carly is a very smart lady. She did a very good job in the private sector, she is very sensitive to political issues and she's been great talking about issues over the last couple of months," Sununu, said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on

"We've seen the Democrats and every time [you] criticized President Obama, they cried racism. Every time you criticized Hillary Clinton, they cry sexism. When Carly [runs], they're not going to be able to do that.
"So she not only will be perhaps a very interesting candidate in the Republican primary cycle, she'll be a great spokesman for the party against Hillary Clinton if Hillary gets the nomination."
Fiorina told "Fox News Sunday" that the chances of her running for president in 2016 are "higher than 90 percent." She plans to make an announcement before the end of May.
Still, Sununu admitted, Clinton, just like her husband Bill Clinton, has staying power, even in the face of scandal.
"You have to remember, the Clintons are very good at surviving and I'm actually surprised … she's let [the email scandal] get out of hand as it has," he said.
"This is getting much more complicated for her than she ever anticipated. It'll be interesting to see what their next sequence of response is in light of this request … [for her] to come in and testify under oath."
