Attorney Adam Thompson: Boehner Suit 'Much Ado About Nothing'

By    |   Thursday, 26 June 2014 06:26 PM EDT

A Newsmax panel has concluded House Speaker John Boehner's lawsuit against President Barack Obama — for the commander-in-chief's alleged misuse of executive power — is a just a lot of hot political air.

"This is much to do about nothing. It's one of these things to gain political air time. Just make up an issue and hopefully use it in the next election,'' New York-based criminal defense attorney Adam Thompson told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"People are so tired of the squabbling and the fighting and nonsense. Lawsuits over suing the president because he went a little too far with this? Listen we've got bigger fish to fry and bigger issues to tackle than worrying about this.''

Fellow panelist Rick Ungar, co-host of "Steele & Ungar" on SiriusXM, said: "I actually agree with what Adam was saying … The courts are really not very happy about taking on these kinds of cases.''

In announcing his intention to sue the commander-in-chief, Boehner said: "I believe the President is not faithfully executing the laws of our country, and on behalf of the institution and our constitution standing up and fighting for this is in the best long term interest of the Congress.''
