Former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio told Newsmax TV on Friday that he remained a strong supporter of a wall on the Southern U.S. border to stop illegal immigration, especially because "where do you think all the drugs are coming from?"

"Nobody talks about the drugs except our president," Arpaio, who was pardoned last month by President Donald Trump of federal contempt charges, told host Wayne Allyn Root in an interview. "When he was campaigning, he brought that out, the drug traffic.

"We should put up 10 walls if we happen to keep that poison out of our country.

"But all of these politicians, when they're running for office they run to the border, get their picture taken in front of a chicken fence — and all they talk about is illegal immigration.

"Why don't they talk about the drug traffic?" Arpaio asked Root. "No one seems to talk about it."
