Former Rep. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who served as the House Intelligence Committee chairman, joined J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on
Newsmax TV on Friday to discuss President Barack Obama's announcement that the United States will send 300 military advisers to aid the Iraqi government in the fight against the insurgents.
"I wish what the president would do is announce what the objective is for America and for the special forces troops that we're going to be sending in there," Hoekstra said.
"Are they going in to maintain the current status quo, which is a partitioned Iraq? Are they going in to defeat ISIS and restore Iraq to its former borders? What's the objective?"
