President Donald Trump would be doing "the right thing" to decertify the Iran deal — and Congress should do its part and demand Iran open its military sites for inspection, The Weekly Standard founder Bill Kristol told Newsmax TV.
In an interview Thursday with "Newsmax Now" hosts Bill Tucker and Michael Starr Hopkins, Kristol, who also is an ABC News contributor, said two years after the deal was struck, "it's confirmed the fears of some of us that it would embolden Iran."

"I would like [Congress] to say to the Iranians in a united voice on behalf of the U.S. — and then get the Europeans on board, too: 'Look, this deal has some deficiencies, we need to see the military sites, we don't want to sunset it after 10 years, now eight years, and we want to address domestic behavior in the region,'" he said.
"Trump supporters, or supporters of decertification shouldn't kid themselves, [that] this is sort of a magic bullet that's going to suddenly reverse everything bad that's happening in the region and in the world," he added. "But I think at least it doesn't continue to sort of acquiesce in Iran sliding down the road toward a nuclear program and us seeming to slide down a road toward increased inability to do anything about it."
Kristol said getting inspections into the military sites "is a case where Congress can say, 'you know what, we've taken a look at this deal, we're two years in, we don't feel we know exactly what's happening there, we need to see these sites; otherwise, we're going to rethink the whole deal.'
"That would be great if Congress said that."
